Seeking help through counselling can be a difficult, but a very important and often helpful step towards resolving issues in your life. Benefits to seeking counselling often include, but are not limited to, gaining personal awareness and insight, obtaining skills and knowledge to better help you manage problems, changing unwanted behaviours or ways of thinking, or improving communication and resolving interpersonal conflicts.

Your success in counselling is directly related to your level of commitment, effort, abilities and resources. Just as there are benefits to counselling, there are potential risks, including but not limited to evoking strong emotions or difficult memories. If I, as your therapist, am not competent in a particular area of concern that you may have, then I will provide an appropriate referral to another professional who is.
